Wide Releases Rule Per Theatre Charts

Jarhead was one of only two films to crack the $10,000 per theatre average mark over the weekend with a chart topping average of $11,500. The only other film to do so was the overall box office champ, Chicken Little, which managed an average of $10,961 in 3,654 theatres.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theatre Charts alumni:

  • Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang reached $1 million over the weekend. While its per theatre average is strong enough for another round of expansion, it still isn't doing as well as I would have expected. It looks like the film will have to wait until the home market to cover its $15 million production budget.
  • As expected, G reached $2 million on Monday, but fell more than 50% during the weekend. Even so, it is close enough to $3 million that it should reach that milestone this weekend, or shortly afterward, but that will be the last milestone it crosses.
  • The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill earned just over $6,000 over the weekend, but that was enough to push its total over the $3 million milestone.
  • Shopgirl had a huge expansion over the weekend and earned $2.5 million, hitting the $1 million, $2 million and $3 million milestones in the process.
  • Capote may have peaked at the box office, but that didn't stop it from hitting $4 million early in the weekend and it nearly made it to $5 million by Sunday.
  • Good Luck, and Good Luck topped $10 million over the weekend and with a healthy per theatre average and lots of legs, it should reach a few more milestones.
