Silence is Golden but the Per Theater Chart's Gone Wild

Only two films were able to top $10,000 on the per theater chart this week and they couldn't be more different. The overall box office leader, Wild Hogs, also led the per theater chart with $12,078. Second place went to Into Great Silence, which made $11,355 in its lone theater over the weekend and $15,128 since Wednesday.

The Cats of Mirikitan was the best of the rest, pulling in $5,160 in one theater while Wild Tigers I Have Known with $4,515 and Rock Bottom with $4,017 were close behind. Two Weeks struggled with an average of $2,152 in its 12 theaters and Full of It could do no better than $762 in its 15.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Lives of Others made it to $2 million and it could make it to $3 million by this time next week. With the surprise Oscar win, there's no telling how far it will go.
  • Venus reached $3 million over the weekend, but with no Oscar win, it will likely go no further.
  • The Last King of Scotland rode its Oscar win to $15 million over the weekend.
