There were only two films to top $10,000 on the Per Theater Chart this week>. The first was the re-release of Contempt with $14,826. Next was the overall box office leader, Horton Hears a Who, which opened with an average of $11,384.

There were quite a few other new releases, but none performed particularly well over the weekend. Sputnik Mania opened with $4,600 in one theater, while Blind Mountain opened with $3,676, also in one theater. Next up for the new releases was Heartbeat Detector with an average of $2,655 in two while Maria Stuarda at La Scala opened with $2,290, also in two theaters. The rest of the new releases opened below the Mendoza Line starting with On Broadway with $9,500 in 5 theaters for an average of $1,900. Funny Games flopped with just over $500,000 in 274 theaters for an average of $1,865. Wetlands Preserved also struggled, pulling in just $1,736 in one theater. Sleepwalking opened with less than $48,000 on 30 screens for an average of $1,592 while Flash Point rounded out the list of new releases with an average of $327 in ten theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

• The Counterfeiters reached $1 million over the weekend and it is not done yet.
• As expected, In Bruges reached $5 million over the weekend; however, that's likely the last milestone it will hit.
• Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day also reached $5 million, but it has a better shot at reach $10 million eventually.
