The first of the major awards ceremonies were held last night as the Hollywood Foreign Press handed out the 66th annual Golden Globes awards. There were very few films that earned more than one award, but the big winner was Slumdog Millionaire with four wins. It is instantly an Oscar favorite.

• Waltz With Bashir (Israel)

• Simon Beaufoy for Slumdog Millionaire

• A.R.Rahman for Slumdog Millionaire

• "The Wrestler" from The Wrestler

• Boy was I wrong about Slumdog Millionaire. Not only did it not go home empty handed, it won all four awards it was nominated for beating out heavy favorites like Frost/Nixon and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
• The only other film to win more than one award was The Wrestler, which had wins for Best Dramatic Actor (Mickey Rourke) and best original song.
• Kate Winslet won, twice, earning Best Dramatic Actress for Revolutionary Road and Best Supporting Actress for The Reader. I still think vote splitting could cost her come Oscar night.
• WALL-E won for Best Animated Film, which was absolutely no surprise.
• Heath Ledger posthumous win for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Dark Knight should help the film's Oscar chances, as well as its box office fortune as it is being re-released shortly.
