Two new releases cracked $10,000 on the per theater chart this week, including Away We Go, which led the way with $32,603 despite mixed reviews.
The overall number one film, The Hangover, was second with $13,759.
Perhaps most impressive was Up, which remained in the $10,000 club during its sophomore stint with $11,561.
It's rare for a saturation level release to repeat on this chart.
New releases were evenly spread out with high numbers from Seraphine at $6,440, Unmistaken Child at $6,293, and 24 City at $6,082.
Herb & Dorothy was merely average at $4,621, and the same can be said of Art of Being Straight and its $3,778 opening weekend.
On the other hand, Downloading Nancy barely topped the Mendoza Line at just over $10,000 in 5 theaters for an average of $2,065.
Finally we get to Tennessee, which couldn't even reach the $1,000 mark with an average of just $629.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:
- Every Little Step reached $1 million since last week, but that is very likely its last milestone.
- On the other hand, The Brothers Bloom made it to $2 million over the weekend, and while further significant expansion is not likely, $3 million is possible.
