On the one hand, there were three new releases to reach the top five on the rental chart this week. On the other hand, there were only three new releases to reach the top thirty on the rental chart this week. Leading the way was He's Just Not That Into You with roughly 50% more rentals than second place Defiance. Paul Blart - Mall Cop rested comfortably in third place. There was then a big logjam for fourth place with Taken, Revolutionary Road, Valkyrie, and New in Town all within a couple of percentage points of each other.

Total rentals with relatively flat: up just 2.2% from last week to $138.8 million; however, that was 24.3% higher than the same weekend last year. It has been nearly two months since rentals had declines in the year-to-year comparison.
