The Backyardigans: We Arrrr Pirates - Buy from Amazon

I've lost track of the number of times I've reviewed The Backyardigans and I've long since run out of clever ways of introducing the episodes. With that in mind...

The Show

  1. Pirate Camp
Uniqua, the pink thing, and Pablo, the blue penguin, are going to Camp Walkaplanka to learn to be real pirates. Pablo decides to stay home, because he is scared of pirates. All it takes is a quick song and dance by Uniqua and she's convinced him to go. When they get there, Austin's in charge and the first lesson he gives them is never touch the boot belonging to the ghost of Pirate Red Boot. ... Pirate's booty?
  2. Pirate Treasure
Uniqua and Austin have half of a pirate map and they are off to find treasure, but with only half a map, it will be tough. When Pablo and Tyrone find the other half of the map, it's a race. How long will it take before they learn to work together?
  3. Sinbad Sails Alone
Tyrone, is pretending to be Sinbad and he's going to sail to the end of the rainbow. But when Pablo stows away on his ship, he's not happy. And Pablo quickly shows why Sinbad normally sails alone. Will he be able to redeem himself and learn to be a real sailor?
  4. The Tale of the Not-So-Nice Dragon
The sequel to Tale of the Mighty Knights and the only episode on this DVD that hasn't been previously released. Tasha the Flighty Fairy and Austin the Grabby Goblin are heading off to King Pablo's castle for tea. When they get there, they find the kingdom under attack by a Not-So-Nice Dragon. Only Knight Uniqua and Knight Tyrone can defeat him by grabbing hold of his tail and counting to ten. But this dragon is just too strong and the King and his two knights are quickly captured. Now its up to the fairy and the goblin to save the kingdom.

The Extras

There are no extras on the DVD. Nor are there subtitles or proper chapter placements.

The Verdict

The Backyardigans is a great show for preschoolers. However, We Arrrr Pirates only has four episodes, three of which have already been released on DVD. And with no extras, unless you have none of the episodes on DVD already, it's not worth picking up.
