2012 Awards Season: PGAs Turn Award Season Prognosticating from Science to Art
January 22nd, 2012
Producers Guild of America handed out the winners tonight and instead of solidifying Oscar prospects, they might have opened things up a bit more. At least in my mind there are more questions than answers after tonight. So what nominees took home the awards?
The categories and nominations are...
THEATRICAL MOTION PICTURE
- The Artist beating out The Descendants for Best Picture was a surprise, at least in my mind. I was leaning towards The Descendants as this year's big Oscar winner, but that's more up in the air now.
- The Adventures Of Tintin is likely the favorite for the Oscar, although I think Rango's the better movie. That said, I still think Winnie the Pooh is the best animated film I've seen all year.
- Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest won for Best Documentary, but it didn't even make the Oscar shortlist this year. This category is anyone's guess, but Bill Cunningham New York and Project Nim are perhaps the two most likely Oscar winners.
