2018 Awards Season: DGA - Winners

The Directors Guild of America announced their winners on Saturday. There were some surprise results that suggest it could be an unusual year at the Oscars.

The categories and winners are...

Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film

• Alfonso Cuarón for Roma

• Tim Wardle for Three Identical Strangers

• Bo Burnham for Eighth Grade

• I wanted Spike Lee to win for BlacKkKlansman, but Alfonso Cuarón winning for Roma was my second pick.
• Bradley Cooper didn’t win Best First Feature for A Star is Born, which is amazing, because he was also nominated for Best Picture. That said, I’m very happy Bo Burnham won for Eighth Grade.
• Best Documentary went to Tim Wardle for Three Identical Strangers, but that film wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar, so I have no idea what is happening in that category.
