There was only three new releases to chart on the home market this week; however, they included the top rental this week, Borat. While it was absolutely no surprise that the film opened in first place, it was a bit of a surprise that it only managed $9.18 million while doing so. The rest of the top five were all holdovers and all of them managed drop-offs of 20% or less. Stranger Than Fiction was the best down a mere 13% to $5.89 million this week and $12.67 million after two. The Departed added $5.36 million to its total of $30.37 million, while fellow Oscar winner, Babel, added $5.10 million to its running tally of $20.21 million. Rounding out the top five was The Prestige with $5.09 million for the week and $19.28 after three.

The were only two other new releases to chart with Let's Go to Prison placing eighth with $2.84 million and Fast Food Nation placing 27th with $1.37 million. Both films did well compared to their theatrical runs, but here it is a case of too little, too late.

Moving onto the sales chart, more new films were able to chart including the number one release, Peter Pan - 2-Disc Platinum Edition. The DVD sold an estimated 2.2 million units over the first week, which was just over 300,000 units more than the second place Borat. The Departed slipped a spot to third while Flushed Away fell from first to fourth. The final film in the top five was Stranger Than Fiction.

The best of the rest was South Park - The Complete Ninth Season in 7th place while the only other new release to chart was Let's Go to Prison in 12th.
