The Valet Parks on Top of Per Theater Chart

Again, only one film was able to top $10,000 on the per theater chart this weekend. This time it was The Valet that made the grade, as it earned close to $70,000 in 6 theaters for a average of $11,259.

No other new limited release really made an impact with Adios Momo earning $4,008 in its lone theater. That total was disappointing, but the rest were worse. Stephanie Daley only managed $3,401 in one theater while Syndromes and a Century earned an average of $2,759 in two. Even further down the chart was The Tripper with barely more than $20,000 in 50 theaters for an average of $417. I was at least expecting it to earn the most of all the new limited releases in terms of raw dollars and it only needed a per theater average of $1,400 to do that. However, as bad as that performance was, Believe was even worse at just $357.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Wind the Shakes the Barley reached its first milestone, but it is unlikely that is will reach much further than $1 million.
  • The Host made it to $2 million, barely, but at least it can say it earned some measure of mainstream success and that's not something every foreign language film can say.
  • The Hoax reached $5 million over the weekend, but I don't see it reaching $10 million given its per theater average.
