Movie Websites Launches for December 10 - December 16

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates, including this week's winner Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - Official Site and all subsidiaries. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

The Amityville Horror
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site.

The Aviator
Current Content: No real change since last week, however, it is flaunting its Golden Globes nominations, (along with practically every other nominee on this weeks list.)

Batman Begins
Current Content: The teaser trailer and the full trailer were added to the site. And while they helped alleviate fears about the film, I'm still cautious about its potential.

Be Cool
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site, or to be more specific, the link to the trailer was added to the site.

Beyond the Sea
Current Content: While all the usual features are on the site, there's little in the way of animation or extras and most importantly, the music clips are too short. It's not a bad site by any stretch of the imagination, I was just hoping for more.

Boogeyman
Current Content: So far the site only has the trailer and a place to share your Boogeyman stories. There's a lot of them already, so you could spend quite a long time reading.

Bride and Prejudice
Current Content: Good news, this isn't the typical Miramax website. Bad news, it has even less content. It's more colorful, but the only content is a link to the Miramax's trailer page on Apple.com, but the trailer for this movie isn't even there yet.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site and it's a must see. That's not necessarily a compliment, mind you, the trailer is just so out there that is must be seen to be believed. Once you do see it, head over to our forum to discuss it. I'd like to hear more opinions on this one.

Coach Carter
Current Content: The cast and crew bios were added to the site leaving just the promotions marked coming soon.

Elektra
Current Content: A new featurette was added to the site, this one was about the martial arts. Very cool and got me even more excited about the movie.

Emile
Current Content: This is either a very popular movie site or it's on a very poor sever because right now it's showing a 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded error. I'll try again before uploading this story. … Nope, still no luck.

Flight of the Phoenix
Current Content: No changes since the site first appeared on the list.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Current Content: The site's gone down and has been replaced by a re-direct. Not sure if this is an error by Disney or if the site has a new URL, or perhaps even it was deliberate sabotage by Vogons for the slanderous attack on the quality of their poetry. Hopefully whatever the cause it will be back soon.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Current Content: With the release of this film just a day away the rest of the content has been added to the site, (except for the clips but that is not unexpected.) New this week are the final two character pages for Aunt Josephine and Uncle Monty. You can explore Aunt Josephine's house, play a game very similar to hangman, look at an IPIX and get the usual downloads. Uncle Monty's house has several IPIX, a game very similar to Minesweeper as well as the usual downloads. This site is huge, well done and with plenty of extras is easily deserves its award-winning status. However, it is not the only site helping promote the movie. Others include CountOlaf.com, the site dedicated to Count Olaf and his amazing career as an actor, humanitarian, etc. Then there's Count Olaf's Blog, Count Olaf's Campaign Site for his candidacy for President of All Actors Everywhere and of course, two fansites dedicated to Count Olaf, one done by the Hook Handed Man and the other by the White Faced Women. All combined you could take almost as much time to fully explore these sites as it would to watch the movie. And in the first time in the nearly two years this column has been around, a site is being awarded the Weekly Website Award, twice. It is, after all, quite possibly the greatest movie website I've ever seen. Maybe I'll make a really big award that says that so they can stick in on their site, I bet Count Olaf would really like that.

Million Dollar Baby
Current Content: Simple site with just the basics and not a lot of glitz, not that that's a bad thing in this case.

The New World
Current Content: A short intro was added to the site, as was the synopsis and two image galleries. The first image gallery is broken into three parts and is made up of stills from the film. The second image gallery is a more in-depth look at the teaser trailer.

Nobody Knows
Current Content: Typical IFC Films website with just the synopsis and the trailer.

The Sea Inside
Current Content: There have been no real changes in the site since is first launched. The site has the synopsis, good production notes, cast and crew bios, image gallery and the trailer.

Son of the Mask
Current Content: Cast bios were added to the site.

Spanglish
Current Content: The site has most of the usual features, synopsis, cast bios, crew list, image gallery and the trailer. It also has a couple of extras like ask the director and excerpts from the script for a dozen scenes. You can also watch a 10 minute long clip from the movie on the placeholder site.

A Tale of Two Sisters
Current Content: Simple site without any sound or animation, (outside the trailer of course.) The site is also light on content with just the synopsis, director bio, image gallery, trailer and reviews.

War of the Worlds
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the site.
