"Studio Sinkers" Movies

← See all keywords

Movies that cost so much to make and bombed so hard that they sunk the studio. This includes subsidiaries of larger companies or animation divisions of major studios, but it has to be an abrupt end, rather than a death by a thousand cuts situation. There are actually some films that are now considered classic that are on this unfortunate list. One final note: "Death" is a nebulous term when it comes to corporations. A smaller studio can die, but its name can live on in another form, because it was bought out by a larger studio. These means it is possible for a studio to die, be ressurected, and then die again multiple times.
