DVD Rentals - Competition Barely Bugs Knocked Up

October 7, 2007

New releases took the top two spots on the DVD rental chart with Knocked Up taking in $10.11 million during its opening week. Next was well back with $6.87 million, but that was nearly 40% of what it made during its theatrical run. We Are... Marshall slide into third place with $3.99 million in rentals for the week for a total of $8.58 million. The Condemned added $3.61 million over the week for a total of $7.76 million, which is more than it earned theatrically. Finally, Blades of Glory spent its fifth week in the top five earning $2.97 million for a total of $28.64 million.

There were a trio of other new releases to chart with Bug earning sixth place with $2.65 million; it should have little trouble matching its theatrical run. Evening, on the other hand, earned more theatrically but only managed $1.62 million over the week for 12th place while Black Book took in $1.03 million for 22nd place.
