March 11, 2005

Robots gets the widest release as expected this weekend, with 3,776 theaters. A couple of years ago, that would make it one of the widest releases in history. Now it's about as expected for a major studio release. Hostage, meanwhile, makes a comparatively quiet debut in 2,123 theaters, and The Passion of the Christ will be packing them in again at 952 venues.
