Theater Averages: High Life Reaches High Heights

April 12, 2019

High Life

High Life led the way on the theater average chart earning an average of $24,835 in four theaters. Amazing Grace was next with an average of $14,674 in eight theaters. Meanwhile, the overall number one film, Shazam, was the final film in the $10,000 club with an average of $12,688.

The only other new limited release to do well was Peterloo with an average of $7,192 in three theaters. The only other new limited release to avoid the Mendoza Line was Suburban Birds, which earned $3,207 in its one theater.

The rest of the new releases were not as lucky. The Fate of Khan Lee was the closest to the Mendoza Line with $1,648 in one theater. The Public only managed an average of $987 in 263 theaters. Storm Boy was right behind with an average of $834 in 56 theaters. Palau the Movie and The Wind earned averages of $477 in 135 theaters and $471 in 30 theaters respectively.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Aftermath reached $1 million and $2 million isn’t out of reach.
  • The Mustang expanded further and that helped it get to $2 million. It likely won’t expand significantly beyond this point, but it should definitely hit more milestones.
  • Hotel Mumbai's semi-wide expansion didn’t go amazingly, but it did go well enough that it reached $6 million over the weekend.
  • Gloria Bell made it all the way to $5 million over the weekend, but $6 million seems unlikely at this point. This is still great for a limited release.
