Spider-Man: No Way Home

After a couple of months away from theaters and nearly $1.9 billion in worldwide earnings, Spider-Man: No Way Home once again casts its web into cinemas this weekend, playing in an impressive 3,935 locations and once again becoming the widest release of the week. The new cut of Spider-Man: No Way Home, billed as Spider-Man: No Way Home—The More Fun Stuff Version was announced on twitter back in June in jokey video from all three Spider-Men (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland). The mega-blockbuster film is not the only wide release to hit theaters this weekend however as Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul makes its theatrical debut in a solid 1,880 locations, while Gigi & Nate arrives in 1,184 theaters. As an extra bonus, another cult classic makes its way back into cinemas as Jaws is being released in 1,246 movie houses.

Outside of the re-release of No Way Home, the widest releases list is similar to last week with Beast sliding into second this week, dropping 542 theaters and landing in 3,212 locations as it heads into its third weekend. The third-widest release this week is the current box office champ, Bullet Train, coming in with 3,117 locations. Still chugging along is DC League of Super-Pets, showing in 3,115 theaters this week. Lastly, to round out the top five, is last week’s newcomer The Invitation, which keeps its opening count of 3,114 theaters.

As previously mentioned, Gigi & Nate as well as Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. begin their theatrical runs this week. The latter is a comedy film starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown as two fallen church leaders who must reconcile their faith to rebuild their once great congregation. The former is a coming-of-age drama and true story of a quadriplegic and a capuchin monkey.

Once again an abundance of limited releases are also opening this week. From IFC Films come two thrillers in the form of Saloum and Burial, releasing in 2 and 24 locations respectively. The first is directed by Congolese director Jean Luc Herbulot, while Burial is about a band of Allied soldiers who are ambushed by Nazi Werewolves as they are trafficking Hitler’s remains out of Germany during the last days of WWII. Other films making their debut this week are The Harbinger, Blind Ambition and Peter von Kant.

Looking ahead to next week we see the debut of Barbarian and Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva. The new releases will be available in about 2,200 and 750 theaters respectively.

Note: The theater count for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is an estimate from Box Office Pro.
