DVD Sales: Not-So Secret of Her Success
Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings continues the franchise's impressive run on the home market leading all new releases earning first place on the DVD sales chart. It sold 756,000 units and generated $12.85 million in opening week sales. This is amazing for a direct-to-DVD release. Magic Mike opened in second place with 698,000 units / $10.45 million during its first week of release. This isn't bad compared to its theatrical run, but not great either. Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection earned third place with 344,000 units / $5.16 million, which is in line with expectations. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted was the only holdover in the top five selling an additionally 327,000 units / $5.87 million during the week for totals of $1.27 million / $21.90 million after two. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter only managed fifth place with 208,000 units / $3.54 million. It struggled in theaters, so this result is not a surprise.
Tyler Perry's I Don't Want to Do Wrong earned seventh place with 125,000 units / $1.25 million. This is good for a direct-to-DVD release. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season Four earned 16th place with 42,000 units sold and $1.06 million generated. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was way back in 24th place with 28,000 units / $482,000. The less said, the better.
