DVD Rentals - State Solid

September 26, 2009

State of Play remained on top of the rental chart this week with roughly 20% more rentals than Crank 2 - High Voltage, which was the best new releases on this week's list. Duplicity was well back in third place, just ahead of Fighting, which remained in fourth. The Last House on the Left held onto the final spot in the top five.

The only other new release to chart was Dance Flick, which missed the top five by less than a percentage point. This film has not yet been released on sale on DVD, so it will be interesting to see how the advanced rental window affects sales. Since the movie struggled at the box office, it likely won't have a major effect, as it was the kind of movie people were more likely to rent anyway.

Overall rentals were down 7.3% from last week, but were 9.6% higher than the same weekend last year. It has been two month since there was a year-to-year decline on the rental chart.
