DVD Rentals - What Happened to the New Releases?

September 14, 2008

New releases were not a major factor on the rental charts this week and that helped What Happens in Vegas... to remain in top spot. In fact, there were no new releases in the top five, so Street Kings remained in second place and Prom Night in third. On the other hand, 21 climbed back into the top five, rising to fourth place. Finally, The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior was very, very close behind in fifth place.

Then She Found Me was the best of the new releases as it managed to land in seventh place, which is not bad for a limited release. The Promotion opened in ninth place, which was much better than it did during its limited release. The same can be said of Married Life and its eleventh place opening. Finally, the direct-to-DVD release, Bait Shop's DVD was the 16th best renter of the week, thanks in part to the drawing power of Billy Ray Cyrus. I can't believe I just said that.
