Movie Website Updates for January 27 - February 2, 2007

February 3, 2007

Busy week for limited releases and a busy week for websites, which explains why I'm wrapping things up at midnight. There wasn't a whole lot on this week's list that really attracted my attention, but I'm giving the Weekly Website Award to Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters - Official Site, mainly for their ... extracurricular activities of the viral marketers in Boston. And remember people, real bombs are meant to be inconspicuous, they won't sing you a song or make rude gestures at you.

The Abandoned - Official Site
There's a making of featurette on the site, which is quite long and in-depth for a website. It wouldn't be out of place on the DVD.

Amazing Grace - Official Site
They changed the look of the site and it helps its cohesiveness.

Angel-A - Official Site
All the usual features are here with enough style to not seem boring.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters - Official Site
The official movie site is up, but there's just the trailer. What I really wanted to comment about the marketing campaign that shut down Boston the other day. What wrong with people who mistake ads for bombs? Last time it was for Mission: Impossible: 3 with boxes would play the iconic theme song. This time around its LED displays of a Mooninite flipping the bird! What crackpot terrorist organization would do that? "Death to Americans! We must plant bombs around the city, and make sure they play a tune and flip people off first because the most important aspect of a successful terrorist campaign is drawing attention to yourself. Death to Americans!" And of course, the media has gone completely off the deep end on this one and are referring to the ad campaign as a bomb hoax, probably because if they admit was it really was, they are the ones who look foolish. ... But back to the site, I love the new trailer. And the fact that it's the only thing on the site isn't going to stop me from awarding it the perpetually panic-stricken Weekly Website Award.

Because I Said So - Official Site
No real changes in a while.

Breach - Official Site
The flash site is up with most of the regular information, (bios are marked coming soon). There are two extras, a FBI Entrance Exam and a Spot the Mole game, both are which are interesting but do little to sell the movie.

Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore? - Official Site
Just the basics for a documentary site.

Constellation - Official Site
All the basics are here, but there's nothing to set it apart.

Delta Farce - Official Site
The trailer is on the site and I can tell right away that this movie is not for me. I like some of the actors in the movie, (DJ Qualls and Danny Trejo, for instance), but there's little here that makes me think this will be a good movie. Maybe I'll be proven wrong, but it will take a lot to convince me otherwise.

The Ex - Official Site
The name has been changed to The Ex, but the movie site and the trailer still haven't been changed.

Factory Girl - Official Site
Just the basics. There is a section for acclaim, but it is still empty. Given the film's reviews, I'm not surprised.

Fired! - Official Site
One of several sites for documentaries on this week's list and this one is arguably the best. It has your usual features, synopsis, bios, trailer, etc. and it also has extras like clips from the movie. There's also a lot of facts about the economy and who's coming out on top and who's failing behind, which should get you fired up to see the movie. There's even a place to give your best fired stories.

Foodfight! - Official Site
Site's down. Not sure if it is temporary or if the movie is dead. ... Site's back, but there have been no updates.

Full Of It - Official Site
Just the synopsis and trailer so far.

Ghost Rider - Official Site
Two new blogs this week, including a in-depth look at the CG fire and how it was created.

The Host - Official Site
All the usual features were added to the site including two extras, clips and a game. However, the clips are marked coming soon while the game is currently not working for me. I'll check again later to see if it was fixed. ... The games working now; it's a simple target practice game, but it's fun to play.

Hot Fuzz - Official Site
The pub was added to the site as was a bulletin board. In the pub there's a quiz and a video game, but the latter is marked coming soon.

In the Pit - Official Site
This is an excellent site for a documentary. There's all the usual features, (synopsis, director's bios, characters, gallery, trailer), as well as a lot of style. Characters has audio clips from the movie, I think, they are in Spanish so I have no idea what they are saying. Overall it does sell the movie well.

Kung Fu Panda - Official Site
Nothing. Not even an attractive nothing.

The Last Mimzy - Official Site
The flash site launched this week, but there's not a whole lot of regular features and the extras don't sell the movie very well.

Meet the Robinsons - Official Site
The flash site launched this week, but outside the synopsis and trailers, all other content is marked coming soon. There's a lot here and the site could turn into an award-winner, but it's too soon to tell.

The Messengers - Official Site
The site appears to be down. I'll check back later to see if it's back. ... Nope, the sites still dead. On a side note, when this site first launched, there was a lot of video blogs marked coming soon, but most never materialized. That's too bad because it could have helped the site be an award-winner.

Music and Lyrics - Official Site
All the usually feature are now on the site, but there's little here to set it apart. I guess the music clips could help, but frankly that, "Pop goes my heart" song drives me nuts. (I really think it is supposed to.)

Partition - Official Site
Another site with just the basics along with some background information. There is enough style to not seem boring, but not enough to stand out of the crowd.

Pride - Official Site
The full site launched this week and all the usual features are here. Extras are limited, but the music is good.

Raising Flagg - Official Site
Just the very basics. There's also some music, but it's not what I would call a selling point.

Shooter - Official Site
The flash site is up but it just has the basic, (with bios and production notes marked coming soon).

The Situation - Official Site
Just the basics without enough in the way of style.

Spider-Man 3 - Official Site
A couple video blog entries were added this week.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Official Site
The site's been totally redesigned this week and it looks great. However, there's simply not enough content here for it to be award-worthy. Hopefully as the release date nears that will change.

The Transformers - Official Site
Photos were added to the site.

An Unreasonable Man - Official Site
No real changes since last week. It's a functional, but hardly a flashy site.

Wild Hogs - Official Site
The full site launched this week, but there's not a whole lot here to talk about. There is a game and I was looking forward to a bit of racing, but it's not that kind of game. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to put in a game like Road Rash on a site, just the one map, the one type of bike, some audio clips from the movie, (and take out the hitting part). That would advertise the movie a lot more than this game.
