DVD Rentals - Why Buy Chuck and Larry When You can Rent It?

November 19, 2007

There were just four new releases to chart on this week's rental charts, but three of them placed in the top five. This includes the new number one renter, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which pulled in $9.26 million in rentals. Spider-man 3 was pushed into second place but with $8.01 million in rentals for the week and $17.71 million in total, it is still doing very well. Despite leading the sales chart, Ratatouille had to settle for third on the rental chart; however, it is common for family films to chart higher on the sales chart compared to the rental chart and $7.57 million in opening week rentals is still a great start. Deck the Halls opened in fourth place with $6.22 million, which is a better than expected start. The final film in the top five was The Transformers, as it added $5.32 million to its running tally of $30.96 million.

The only new release to chart this week that did reach the top five was Sicko, which placed sixth with $5.10 million.
