Theater Averages: Hotel Mumbai is Fully Booked

March 28, 2019

Hotel Mumbai

Hotel Mumbai led the way on the theater average chart with an average of $22,016 in 4 theaters during its opening weekend. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Us with an average of $19,010.

There were not many other new limited releases that we have numbers for and none were even close to the $10,000 mark. Sunset opened with an average of $4,615 in three theaters. Ramen Shop opened with an average of $2,652 in two theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Never Look Away got to $1 million over the weekend, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Gloria Bell also got to $1 million... and $2 million over the weekend. Its theater average is low enough that I don’t think it will expand significantly beyond this point, but it should have long enough legs to reach $5 million before it is done.
  • Run the Race hit $6 million, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Apollo 11 also made it to $6 million, but its chances of continuing and getting to one more milestone is a lot better than the previous film’s chances.
