Weathering With You

Bad Boys for Life easily won the race for top spot on the theater average chart. In fact, it was the only film in the $10,000 club with an average of $16,557. The best new limited release of the week was Weathering With You, which earned $5.28 million, although that was over six days. It managed an average of $3,716 in 486 theaters over the three-day weekend, which isn’t enough to expand, but it is enough to encourage more theater owners to book Anime in the future.

There were no other real new limited releases, although Citizen K did have a re-release after last year’s Oscar-qualifying run. That film earned $9,535 in one theater, but again, it was not a true new release.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Weathering With You earned more than $5 million during its six-day debut, so obviously it hit a bunch of milestones along the way.
  • 1917 has been a massive hit in wide release getting all the way to $75 million and it is far from done.
