Not only did Charlie and the Chocolate Factory easily take top spot on the overall charts this week, it also set records on IMAX screens nationwide. This IMAX Experience version of the film played on 65 screens earning a record breaking $2.2 million, just ahead of what the The Polar Express made last year. Aided by the Christmas holidays, that film went on to earn $45 million on IMAX screens, but that is not a feat many would expect Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to repeat.
