Open Season became the latest film to take advantage of the really big screen experience. Over its first weekend, the film earned an estimated $1.4 million on just 65 IMAX screens for an average of $21,500.

Meanwhile, it was announced last week than Superman Returns crossed the $30 million mark for its worldwide IMAX run. $22.7 million of that has come from 92 IMAX screens domestically and $7.5 million has been earned on 36 IMAX screens internationally.

Next up for IMAX is Happy Feet, which opens November 17th.
