DVD Releases for February 3, 2009 - Part I

February 3rd, 2009

Wow. That was... Due to technical difficulties, late deliveries, and some misfiled DVDs, this week's list is a little later than normal (but it's still Tuesday, so it's not technically late). It is also a lot larger than normal with a record number of Spotlight reviews (23 in all, or 30 if you count individual movies). There are also some very high quality releases including Zack and Miri Make a Porno on either DVD or Blu-ray. However, given the subject matter of that film, I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. The best release of the week is, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist on DVD or Blu-ray, but especially the Blu-ray, which is worth the upgrade. That film is the DVD Pick of the Week. With a record number of spotlight reviews, it goes without saying that the list had to be split up this week, with the second part found here, while the third part can be found here. (First time I had to separate the list into three parts.) More...

Per Theater Chart is Rocking

October 15th, 2008

Two limited releases performed amazingly on this week's per theater chart with RocknRolla earning first place with an average of $20,672 in seven theaters. Second place went to Happy-Go-Lucky with an average of $18,467 in four. Meanwhile, last week's winner, Rachel Getting Married, remained potent with an average of $16,505, despite tripling its theater count. More...

Men and Women Rise to the Top of the Per Theater Chart

August 26th, 2008

Only two films topped $10,000 on the per theater chart, but that was two more than last week. The number one film was Momma's Man, which earned $11,072 in one theater, while The Girl Cut in Two saw double-digit growth $21,193in two theaters for an average of $10,597. More...

Summer Starts to Wind Down on the Per Theater Chart

August 12th, 2008

Elegy topped the charts with more than $100,000 in 6 theaters for an average of $17,361. The only other film to top $10,000 was Beautiful Losers, which barely crossed that milestone with $10,607 in one theater. More...

Movie Website Reviews for Weekend of August 8, 2008

August 9th, 2008

Not the best week for websites, but not the worst. While the best of the best, The Pineapple Express - Official Site, is not one of the best sites I've seen. But there are almost no movie sites that are missing or below acceptable levels. More...

Limited Releases for My Horses

August 8th, 2008

The Olympics have started and this might be scaring away some limited releases as we only have eight films in total, including three that are opening in dozens of theaters each. However, these wider releases are not necessarily the strongest releases. That said, none of the releases look particularly strong this week. More...
