Theater Averages: Silence Speaks Volumes with an Average of $32,720

December 28, 2016

Silence

Silence scored first place on the theater average chart earning an average of $32,720 in four theaters. Patriots Day was next with an average of $23,044 in seven theaters. Most impressively, Hidden Figures earned an average of $20,620 in 25 theaters, in just one day. The final film in the $10,000 club was the overall number one film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with an average of $15,404.

The only other new limited releases we have numbers for was A Monster Calls, which earned an average of $7,727 in four theaters. That’s an okay start, but not strong enough to think it will expand truly wide in January.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Lion got to $1 million just before its expansion on Christmas Day and that helped it get to $2 million on Monday.
  • Jackie hit $2 million before the weekend, $3 million over the weekend, and $4 million on Monday.
  • La La Land topped $10 million on Christmas Day and $15 million on Boxing Day.
  • Manchester by the Sea reached $15 million before the weekend and $20 million on Boxing Day.
