Movie Websites Launches for June 25 - July 1

July 2, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Spider-Man 2 - Official Site. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

America's Heart and Soul
Current Content: No updates since the flash site first launched.

Anchorman
Current Content: The rest of the content was added this week, mostly the usual features like synopsis and production notes. Also added were some more movie clips, a Anchor IQ quiz and two more Ron Burgundy Thought of the Week.

Before Sunset
Current Content: This site has all the regular features, synopsis, production notes, etc. There's a bit of animation on the site, but it could really use some sound.

Blade: Trinity
Current Content: Big update to the placeholder site this week. A flash animation was added for each of the three main characters, as well as the trailer and some downloads.

Christmas with the Kranks
Current Content: Just the trailer so far.

A Cinderella Story
Current Content: The usual features were added to the site, synopsis, production notes and cast and crew bios. Also, the background music was improved. Instead of one 30 second clip that played only once there are several clips that loop.

The Clearing
Current Content: No real changes since the site first launched, but I think the background music is louder.

De-Lovely
Current Content: No changes since the week before last. This is a very good site with some of the best background music. I know this is nearly the same entry as last week, but there's a very good reason for that; the film was delayed a week after I had posted the movie website review.

Exorcist: The Beginning
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the site.

The Grudge
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the placeholder site.

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
Current Content: A couple of more songs were added to the download section.

Pauly Shore is Dead
Current Content: The site has a synopsis, two trailers, images and reviews.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera
Current Content: Simple placeholder with just the synopsis and teaser trailer.

Serenity
Current Content: There was no real updates to the placeholder site, however, I've been checking out this site nearly every day and I must say the show has the most devoted fan base I've ever seen. So while the main site hasn't changed there have been updates to the Official Firefly Non-Movie Site and activity on the forums. This show is like the Star Trek for a new generation. Hopefully we won't have to wait 20 years for it to come back on TV.

Spider-Man 2
Current Content: This is a good site, but not a great one, which is what I was expecting considering the movie it's promoting. And while this site does suffer from high expectations, it is still worthy of being an award-winning site. It has all the usual features, synopsis, cast and crew bios, production notes, (lots of production notes.) Much of the site was multimedia with several IPix, (many from the first movie), image gallery, fan art, two trailers and a bunch of TV Spots, etc. and even some interactive features like The Ultimate Quiz. There are some weaknesses on the site like the lack of cohesion in the format and there's not enough sound or music on the site. But that's not enough to stop this site from winning the adhesive Weekly Website Award.

Suspect Zero
Current Content: The synopsis was added to the site.
