DVD Sales: Jack's Regular-Sized Opening

New releases were rather sparse on the June 23rd, 2013 edition of the DVD sales chart. Granted, Jack the Giant Slayer did earn first place, but it was the only new release in the top five. It sold 319,000 units and generated $4.79 million in revenue, which is weak given the film's production budget.
Oz the Great and Powerful was pushed into second place with 249,000 units / $4.92 million for the week and 797,000 units / $14.90 million after two. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters sold an additional 133,000 units and generated $2.26 million in revenue over the week. After two weeks of release, it has sold 405,000 units / $5.95 million. Identity Thief held onto fourth place with 125,000 units / $2.49 million over the week for totals of 662,000 units / $12.22 million after three weeks of release. Snitch rounded out the top five with 113,000 units / $1.69 million over the week and 365,000 units / $5.46 million after two.
There were several other new releases spread out over the rest of the DVD sales chart with 21 and Over in sixth place with 96,000 units / $1.74 million. Quartet landed in ninth place with 48,000 units / $722,000, which is great for a limited release. Movie 43 earned 11th place with 42,000 units / $642,000. This isn't bad, given the film's box office numbers. However, that is damning it with faint praise. The Last Exorcism Part II did better at the box office than Movie 43 did, but even worse on the home market with 33,000 units / $605,000, which is enough for 14th place. The final new release to chart was The Dragon Pearl, which landed in 18th place with 25,000 units / $379,000. This isn't bad for a foreign film that wasn't released in theaters here.
