Weekend Estimates: Sex and the City Fades Through the Weekend

June 1, 2008

It's only been in release for three days, and already Sex and the City is a remarkable movie. It's opening on Friday was a jaw-dropping $26.93 million, easily the biggest ever for a romantic comedy. That would usually set a movie up for a weekend total around $70 million. But the studio's estimate, released Sunday morning, is for a weekend of $55.74 million. That's still a fantastic start, but the steep decline through the weekend must be cause for concern.
