Movie Website Updates for September 9 - September 15, 2007

September 16, 2007

A stronger week for website than we've seen in a few weeks, including the launch of a potential fall blockbuster. However, that site is mostly marked coming soon allowing Elizabeth - The Golden Age - Official Site to take the Weekly Website Award this week.

Across the Universe - Official Site
The heart of the site as the character sections where you can listen to clips from most of the songs from the movie. However, most of these songs are terrible. Thank you for ruining so many great Beatles songs in such a sort time.

Alien vs. Predator: Requiem - Official Site
The age restricted trailer is marked coming soon. Which is strange since I watched it on the site previously.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - Official Site
The full trailer was added to the site, but I'm still not sold. Perhaps it is too soon after 3:10 to Yuma, which looks like the superior film.

Bee Movie - Official Site
Big expansion this week with a lot of features either added or at least marked coming soon. Sadly, there's a lot more of the latter. Right now on the site is the synopsis, Meet Jerry Seinfeld, images, and trailers. Almost everything else, including the characters and the games, are marked coming soon. There's enough sound and animation to be effective, and as long as there are regular updates, this site should help sell the movie to its target audience. Who knows, it might even with the award at some point.

The Brave One - Official Site
Well. ... That's rather average. There's not even enough sound and animation to make the site not seem dull.

December Boys - Official Site
No new updates this week leaving a very average site.

Eastern Promises - Official Site
Barely more than what one would expect for a placeholder site. The clips are good as should help sell the movie.

Eleven Men Out - Official Site
New look, no knew content.

Elizabeth - The Golden Age - Official Site
The Interactive Timeline, bios and 8 clips were added to the site leaving just Building the Golden Age marked coming soon. The timeline is rather in-depth, and more stylish than I was expecting, and the number of clips is enough to temp me into awarding the site the Weekly Website Award. Normally I would wait for that final feature, but it is a slow week, again, and this site is worthy enough to take home the regal Weekly Website Award.

Gone, Baby, Gone - Official Site
The character sections were added, but there are only a couple of audio clips and some images.

Great World of Sound - Official Site
Just the basics, but that trailer is really effective. Don't forget to check out the Official Company site as well.

The Heartbreak Kid - Official Site
A target practice game was added to the site.

In the Valley of Elah - Official Site
Another site with just the basics. I fear studios are scaling back their websites as they are not particularly useful when it comes to spreading the word about the movie.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Official Site
Not much new this week, but we do have the official name.

Ira & Abby - Official Site
All the basics but sadly nothing that makes it stand out.

Iron Man - Official Site
The teaser trailer is on the site and I like it.

Jimmy Carter Man From Plains - Official Site
Much of the content is still marked coming soon, (image gallery, trailer, reviews, links), and this makes judging the site tough.

King of California - Official Site
Just the basics, (minus the bios), but I like how all the features are on the dotted map lines. It adds a bit of style while staying true to the movie.

Moving McAllister - Official Site
No changes, which leaves us with a site that has enough information, but not enough style.

Mr. Woodcock - Official Site
All of the usual features are here and there's enough sound and animation, there's even a game. However, overall it just doesn't sell me on the movie. Sure, there's a game, but it's barely interactive and certainly not something I'd come to the site just to check out.

Music Within - Official Site
No content with a notice saying, "Site coming soon." Which is odd, because there used to be a site.

National Treasure: The Book of Secrets - Official Site
The full site is online and it has all of the usual features, (minus the bios), as well as the first of three games. The first game is a Hangman like word puzzle, which I found a tad easy, but hopefully the other two will be more interactive with more complex puzzles to solve.

The Rape of Europa - Official Site
No new updates, but still a good site for a documentary.

Rendition - Official Site
Character section were added with audio and video clips. Should be a powerful film.

Return to House on Haunted Hill - Official Site
First of all... Really? I didn't think the first movie needed a sequel. Regardless, the site is not bad with all the regular features and it sets the mood well.

Saw IV - Official Site
The flash site launched but there's two problems. One, it is hidden behind an age verification program, (but I can get around that). And two, the sound didn't work. (It works on the placeholder site, but not the main site.) Looks great, but the video clips are kind of pointless without the sound.

Silk - Official Site
Just the poster and the trailer.

Sydney White - Official Site
Apparently the site is still there and there's a boatload of new features. I say apparently cause I can't see it. (It might have something to do with me not having a MySpace account, but I can see other sites.)

Youth Without Youth - Official Site
Just the teaser trailer.
