Per Theater Average Charts Look Like a Million Dollars

January 18, 2005

Million Dollar Baby climbed back into first place on the per theater charts with an average of $14,868 in 122 theaters. The only other film to beat the $10,000 mark was Short Cut to Nirvana: Kumbh Mela with $12,127 in its lone theater.

This past week also saw some milestones reached for several Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Hotel Rwanda had its best weekend at the box office. It reached $2 million mid-week and passed $3 million over the weekend.
  • Beyond the Sea and A Very Long Engagement both hit $4 million over the weekend.
  • Million Dollar Baby's box office reached $5 million on Saturday. With the best per theater average, this film should stay very strong for a long time.
  • As expected, Finding Neverland made it all the way to $30 million this weekend.
