Movie Websites Launches for July 2 - July 8

July 8, 2004

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, The Bourne Supremacy - Official Site. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
Current Content: A game you can download was added to the site.

Anchorman
Current Content: No chances since last week, however, some of the broken links were fixed.

Batman Begins
Current Content: They removed the picture of the Batmobile from the site. Probably because it was so ugly that is was creating as much bad buzz as Catwoman's outfit.

The Bourne Supremacy
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and the interactive trailer alone is worth heading over, even though it isn't complete yet. In between key scenes from the trailer, there are several images, each with multiple hot spots to click on. Depending on what image and what hot spot, you can see background information, hear audio clips, etc. The site also has all the regular features, (synopsis, cast and crew bios, production notes, etc.) It also has two trailers, a section for clips marked coming soon and a game to play. Should you complete the game you are treated to bonus behind-the-scene footage. Excellent site with plenty of interactive material; even just movie your mouse pointer around the home page does stuff. Most importantly, it made we want to see the movie even more, and therefore, it is the winner of the infiltrating Weekly Website Award.

Catwoman
Current Content: The bios were added to the site, as was a game. It's a side scroll fighting game much in the vein of Double Dragon.

Cellular
Current Content: The flash site launched, but there's barely anything there. Very lo-res trailer, synopsis, a few images and Kim Bassinger's bio.

A Cinderella Story
Current Content: The official site for the soundtrack was launched.

The Grudge
Current Content: There was a slight change to the format of the site, but no new content.

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
Current Content: A few behind-the-scene clips were added to the site.

I, Robot
Current Content: A few more games were added to the site, including a clone of Super Smash TV. However, like the previous game, this one felt sluggish on my system.

The Inheritance
Current Content: Simple site with all the usual features but nothing to make it stand out of the crowd.

King Arthur
Current Content: The rest of the content was added to coincide with yesterday's opening. Much of the new information is traditional website fair, cast and crew bios, production notes and the like. There is an interesting feature on the weapons used in the movie, but it focuses more on the people using them than the weapons themselves. You can also listen to the director speak on several topics like battle scenes and stunts.

Little Black Book
Current Content: The flash site just launched and there are a lot of photos and character bios on the site. Half the site is images and character bios; the other half is synopsis, trailer, downloads and opinion polls. Several of the sections have background music, however, the songs are sometimes too short and too repetitive.

The Manchurian Candidate
Current Content: New trailer was added to the site, and there was a really interesting contest. However, it's only available to legal residents of the United States. The other The Manchurian Candidate site was also updated this week. The later site has less information but gives it in a much better style.

Metallica: Some Kind of Monster
Current Content: The site has all the usual features, but it's the navigation system that makes it stand out. You click and drag a window over a statue to find the various features. Very cool. I was expecting more background music, however. Perhaps the band was worried someone would rip it from the site and spread it over in Internet.

The Ring 2
Current Content: I think you can see something new in the static, but I'm not sure what it is.

Serenity
Current Content: There was a second entry added to the production journal, and this one includes several pictures. I should also point out that Official Firefly Non-Movie Site is not an official site but a fan site, a very impressive, award winning fan site.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Current Content: A new trailer was added to the site, as was a downloadable game.

Sleepover
Current Content: There were no new updates just in time for tomorrow's opening.

Suspect Zero
Current Content: This is a great site, but the nature of it makes figuring out if new features have been added very difficult. We're still missing production notes, Project Icarus, clips and interviews. Cast and Crew bios may have been added, but I can't find them. I can't even find the section that had them marked coming soon.

Yu-Gi-Oh!
Current Content: Just the placeholder site with the synopsis, trailer and image gallery.
