January 14, 2003

Mega-director Robert Zemeckis and mega-star Tom Hanks have officially signed with Warner Bros. to do a half-live/half-CGI adaptation of the classic children's book, The Polar Express. Written by Chris Van Allsburg, Polar Express deals with a young boy whose denial of the existence of Santa Claus brings forth the train of the title which scoops him to the north pole.

A reported $150 million price tag has been slapped onto the project with Hanks as a co-producer. Warner is aiming for a possible December 2004 release.
