Movie Websites Launches for November 21 - November 28

November 27, 2003

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here's a list of highlights, plus one last look at websites for films opening this week. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London
Current Content: Mostly a placeholder site with just the trailer and registration to be an Agent in Training.

The Big Bounce
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site. It should be about a month before the flash site goes live.

Chasing Liberty
Current Content: A redesign in the placeholder site happened this week. The trailer and some images, (including the poster) were also added.

The Cooler
Current Content: The movie opened in limited release yesterday, but there were no changes to the site from last week. Understated, but worth checking out.

Eurotrip
Current Content: Just a placeholder site with about a dozen images that flash by and background music. The background music is very well done, especially for a placeholder site. The movie itself doesn't open for nearly three months, so don't expect many updates for now. On a side note, there's a warning saying id you are under 18 you can't go into the site. The MPAA doesn't allow such promotional material, so it's mostly most publicity.

The Haunted Mansion
Current Content: Cast and Crew bios and some very extensive production notes were added to the site, just in time for yesterday's premiere. However, the clips are still marked coming soon. Overall, the site is loaded with extras.

Hellboy
Current Content: The new trailer was added to the site.

Home on the Range
Current Content: Placeholder site with just the trailer. It does have some sounds including background music that's too short. It becomes unbearably repetitive very quickly.

House of Sand and Fog
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and while it has all the usual features, it’s the extras that make this site stand out. Specifically the intricate and interactive flash animation on the home page. And it is not just click here, click here and then click here. It branches at different points to switch between points of view. Very well done. There is also a behind the scenes featurette that added a great deal to the site. These extras, and the more usual features really show how the conflict affects the characters. And it is because of that, this site wins this disharmonious Weekly Website Award.

In America
Current Content: There's a lot of multimedia on this site. Every section starts with a clip from the movie, each cast bio starts with a different clip, you can watch the trailer, the first six minutes, three movie clips and a behind the scenes featurette. The only way they could have gotten more clips on the site would be to show the whole movie. Maybe that will be the next update.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Current Content: Miranda Otto, a.k.a. Eowyn, has a new interview on the site. As with the old interviews, this one is a mixture of text and video.

The Missing
Current Content: There were no changes made to the site for the release, but it already is an award winning site, so no changes were needed.

Paycheck
Current Content: The flash site launched this week and while it is not bad, there's not enough to make stand out. It has the usual features and a couple of extras marked coming soon, but unless those extras are really intriguing this will never be a top class site.

Peter Pan
Current Content: The flash site is up, and the main attraction for this site is the three locations you can explore. There's the Jolly Roger, the Home Underground and the Black Castle. There's plenty to check out including some hidden content. There all the usual features, (bios and clips are marked coming soon) as well as two games to play.

Polar Express
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the site.

Pride & Prejudice
Current Content: Almost all the content marked coming soon has been added to the site. Most of the cast and crew bios are there, so are three clips, (two from the movie and a behind the scenes clip.) There are more downloadables, but the e-cards are still marked coming soon.

Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
Current Content: The teaser trailer was added to the placeholder site.

Spider-Man 2
Current Content: Another webisode was added to the site, this one talked about behind the scenes and included a tour of Mary Jane's apartment. There's also three background themes you can choose for the home page. But since the background changes as soon as you check out any of the content, it's not much use.

Something's Gotta Give
Current Content: The flash site went live this week, but there's a slight problem. The background music is too loud compared to the voices in the videos, which is a shame since it's the abundance of video clips that helps make the site what it is. You can view the trailer of course, there's three clips of couples talking about their relationship and even three videos about some of the food in the movie. A very unusual touch.

Stuck on You
Current Content: Yet another flash site that launched this week. This one fails to stand out since it doesn't have a lot of content. Synopsis, cast and crew bios, trailer and image gallery is about it. There's two unique features: The Snap Twins, which allows you to put your face onto an e-card, and 2 For the Road, which is marked coming soon.

Taking Lives
Current Content: A redesign in the placeholder site. So far just the synopsis and trailer are online with cast and photos marked coming soon.

Timeline
Current Content: Another movie that opened yesterday, this time all the rest of the features marked coming soon were added. This is a site worth checking out, in fact, if the reviews are correct, check out the site and skip the movie.

Torque
Current Content: There was a redesign on the placeholder site. Also the trailer was added.

Watchful Eyes
Current Content: The synopsis was added to the site, as were additional sections like Cast and Crew, Gallery and Community. But so far there is not content in these sections.
