The Thin Man

Avengers: Endgame is coming out on Video on Demand and it is scaring away all of the competition. It is a really shallow week, but there are several contenders for Pick of the Week. The biggest first run Blu-ray release of the week is Long Shot and it is among the contenders. As is Bojack Horseman and The Good Place. However, in the end I went with The Thin Man on Blu-ray, because I really want the full series to come out sooner rather than later.

2019 Stanley Cup Champions: St. Louis Blues - No Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray Combo Pack
Video on Demand
As a Canucks fan, I used to say the teams unofficial motto was, “Thank god for the St. Louis Blues!” They were the only team older than the Canucks without a Stanley Cup win. Now it’s “Well, at least there’s the Buffalo Sabers.” We’re both in the same position having entered the league the same year and have yet to win the Cup. As for this release, it’s 90-minutes of highlights, while real fans want full games.

Bojack Horseman

Bojack Horseman: Seasons One And Two: Collector’s Edition - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray
This show started out a little weak in season one, but really hit its stride in season two, so it is smart to release both seasons as part of a Collector’s Edition to entice fans who hadn’t bought it yet. There are a ton of extras on the DVD / Blu-ray, starting with more audio commentary tracks than there are episodes. There are also animatics, animation comparisons, and more. It is certainly worth picking up and a contender for Pick of the Week.

The Good Place

The Good Place: The Complete Third Season - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD
The last episode of this season was weak, but otherwise it was another fantastic season. Additionally, there are plenty of extras, more than enough for the DVD to be a Pick of the Week contender.

Humanoids from the Deep: Steelbook Edition - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: Blu-ray
I like this movie more than the average critic, but even I will admit it is B-movie fun and not a good movie in the traditional sense of the word. Additionally, I’m not a fan of Steelbook cases, as they are just a pain to store.

The Intruder - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray Combo Pack
This film earned weak reviews, so if you missed it in theaters, and given its box office numbers, most of you did, then it is only worth checking out if you are a fan of the cast / genre. If you saw the movie and liked it, then it is worth picking up thanks to extras that include audio commentary track, deleted scenes, outtakes, making of featurette, etc.

Long Shot

Long Shot - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray Combo Pack
Video on Demand
This film was one of countless movies to miss expectations at the box office this year. Were moviegoers right to stay away? Or does it deserve a second life on the home market? Read our review to find out.

Murdoch Mysteries: Series 12 - No Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray
A police procedural show set just over 100 years ago at the advent of forensic science. I’m burned out on this genre, but I still enjoy watching this show every once and a while. Also coming out this week is a four-season Boxset.

New Cutey Honey Complete OVA Series - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray
Cutey Honey has been around for a long, long time starting in the 1970s. It has been adapted a number of times and this is one of the better adaptations. If you are interested in the show, then this is a great place to start.

Quatermass and the Pit

Quatermass and the Pit - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: Blu-ray
Quatermass II - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: Blu-ray
These are the two Hammer movies based on the BBC series of the same name. They are considered by many to be Sci-fi classics Additionally, the two Blu-rays are loaded with extras, including new and archival extras. It is easily worth picking up and a contender for Pick of the Week.

The Thin Man

The Thin Man - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: Blu-ray
This is the first of the franchise, all of which are worth owning, but we have to hope this one sells well enough to get the others released on Blu-ray in a timely manner. The extras are limited, with an audio drama and an episode of the TV show, but the movie is good enough that it is a contender for Pick of the Week.

UglyDolls - Reviews - Buy from Amazon: DVD or /Blu-ray
This film earned terrible reviews. Even for a kids movie, its reviews are just unacceptable.
