Dora the Explorer: Dora in Wonderland - Buy from Amazon

It is been more than six months since I reviewed any Dora the Explorer, but this week Dora in Wonderland comes out on DVD. What episodes are found on the DVD and is it worth the asking price?

The Show

Dora in Wonderland
The DVD begins with a double-length episode. Dora is reading Alice in Wonderland to Boots and the three kitties when they hear a knocking. The knocking is coming from the mirror and the three kitties jump through. Dora and Boots see the kittens on the other side of the mirror chasing a White Rabbit. The Rabbit says that the Queen is waiting before running away with the kittens following him. Dora and Boots then go through the mirror to get the kittens back and Dora transforms into Alice in Wonderland.

Dora and Boots quickly realize they are in Wonderland (the literal puns gave it away). The White Rabbit is rushing to the Queen's Tea Party to bring strawberry tarts. However, he has to watch out for the Knave of Hearts (a.k.a. Swiper). The White Rabbit takes the rabbit hole to the Tea Party, but it is too small for Dora and Boots to fit. Fortunately, they have a the Map to tell them how to get there. Along the way, the meet many crazy characters, starting with the Hatter.

Book Explorers
The only other episode on the DVD starts with Dora and Boots at the library where they are reading books. They explore Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, and Little Red Riding Hood.

The Extras

There are no extras on the DVD. However, the DVD comes with a paper doll for Dora that comes with two dresses you can put her in.

The Verdict

Dora the Explorer: Dora in Wonderland is on par with other Dora releases. There are an equivalent of three episodes for $13, which is close to the price of other Dora DVDs, but a little higher than most TV on DVD releases aimed at preschoolers are.
