Maleficent opened on top of the international chart with $106.1 million in 47 markets, making it the latest movie to open with more than $100 million on the international chart. The film opened in a number of major markets, but individual results were mixed. The film opened in first place in Mexico with $14.05 million on 2,892 screens and in Russia with $13.06 million on 1,733 screens. In the U.K. it pulled in $11.04 million on 486 screens. It didn't crack $10 million, but did earn first place in Italy ($5.87 million on 650 screens); in Brazil ($5.63 million on 452); and in Germany ($4.87 million on 525 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $5.26 million); and Spain ($4.29 million on 625). It had to settle for second place in Australia with $3.76 million on 530 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $3.90 million. It only managed third place in France ($5.01 million on 550 screens) and in South Korea ($3.38 million on 631 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $3.81 million). The film has yet to open in China and Japan and given this start, it should reach $500 million worldwide before it is done.

X-Men: Days of Future Past fell to second place with $95.6 million in 75 markets for a total of $338.2 million internationally and $500.2 million worldwide. It's biggest market was China where it earned first place with $43.82 million during the full week for a total of $83.14 after two weeks of release. It remained in first place in France with $7.90 million on 620 screens over the weekend for a total of $19.07 million after two, as well as in South Korea ($6.72 million on 834 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $24.69 million) and Australia ($4.16 million on 610 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $13.95 million).

Overheard 3 opened in first place in China and third place internationally with $24.1 million.

Edge of Tomorrow debuted in fourth place with $20.1 million on 4,940 screens in 28 markets. Its best market was Spain, where it earned $1.50 million on 471 screens, which was enough for second place. It earned third place in both the U.K. with $3.16 million on 439 and in Italy with $1.40 million on 593. The film could do no better than fourth Germany, where it earned $1.91 million on 521 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $2.11 million, as well as in Brazil with $1.45 million on 378 screens. These results don't fill me with a lot of confidence for this film's opening weekend.

Godzilla hit a major milestone despite falling to fifth place with $15.1 million in 64 markets. After three weeks of release, the film has pulled in $200.0 million internationally and $374.4 million worldwide. The film has yet to open in China and Japan, but it will need help to be a big enough hit to justify a sequel. I really hope there is a sequel and I hope this time it stars Godzilla.

A Million Ways to Die in the West opened in sixth place with $10.1 million in 21 markets. It opened in third place in Germany with $2.59 million on 597 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $2.92 million, as well as in Australia with $2.09 million on 353. It only managed fourth place in the U.K. with $2.08 million on 465. It hasn't lived up to expectations so far, and I don't have high expectations for the rest of its international markets.

Neighbors held on well in seventh place with $7.6 million on 39 markets for a total of $79.4 million after a month of release. The only major market opening was in Russia, where it landed in third place with $1.60 million on 565 screens. Worldwide, the film had just over $200 million, which is more than enough to break even.

Frozen fell to eighth place, but added $7.50 million on 694 screens in 5 markets. After more than a half of a year of release, the film has earned $832 internationally and $1.233 billion worldwide. The film remains locked in first place in Japan with $7.46 million on 635 screens over the weekend for a total of $207.75 million after 12 weeks of release. It became the first film to reach $200 million in that market and it shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it rose 8.6% from last weekend.

Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu? was next with $5.60 million on 835 screens in 3 markets for a total of $79.62 million. Of that total, $75.28 was earned in France, including $5.22 million on 771 screens this past weekend.

Rio 2 rounded out the top ten with $5.2 million in 57 markets for totals of $338.0 million internationally and $462.3 million worldwide.
