Synopsis

Love is the most dangerous of passions in Stendhal’s classic novel, here adapted into a grand narrative ballet by Pierre Lacotte, with sumptuous sets and costumes that he has also designed. The narrative follows Julien Sorel, an irresistible provincial teen who claws his way up the social ladder, conquering the gentle, married Madame de Rênal and the haughty Mathilde who lead him through the twists and intrigues of a 19th century in which desire, politics and religion form the backdrop for a brilliant and spirited character study.
