Synopsis

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed that NASA would send astronauts to the Moon by the end of the decade. The Space Race inspired an entire generation to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering, creating the technological boom of the 1990s. As the balance of world power shifted, interest in space exploration declined and NASA became old news.
