Movie Website Updates for August 19 - August 25

August 26, 2006

It's another busy week with nearly three dozen films being represented here. Taking top prize is Invincible - Official Site, although there were a few others that could take that claim before all is said and done.

Al Franken: God Spoke - Official Site
All the usual features for a documentary, but with a lot more style. Extras include the first of eight clips, and with a September 13th releases date, there should be plenty of updates each week. Finally, there is also a Blog, which should prove entertaining if the first video entry is any indication.

Artie Lange's Beer League - Official Site
There's a new Beer Googles commercial parody online, which can be found here.

Beerfest - Official Site
This is the second site to feature the Beer Googles concept, this time is game form.

Bug - Official Site
The trailer was added this week, and while I'm not sold on the movie, I'm intrigued enough to want to learn more.

Casino Royale - Official Site
This week's Blog entry is about the high energy director, Martin Campbell.

Confetti - Official Site
This in an interesting site with more unusual features including character bios, clips, and even a personality quiz. (Apparently my wedding theme should be, Nerds of a Feather.)

The Departed - Official Site
The cast & crew lists were added to the site with the bios marked coming soon. I'm not happy with progress of this site, there's nothing overtly wrong about it, but it feels like a placeholder site on steroids and not a full site.

Everyone's Hero - Official Site
Another game was added to the site, a simple target practice game.

Feast - Official Site
The placeholder site launched this week with the synopsis and the trailer marked coming soon.

Flags of Our Fathers - Official Site
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. However, the film doesn't open till late October, so that should change.

Flyboys - Official Site
The full site launched this week, and it looks a lot better than the previous version. There's not a lot new in terms of content, but the style is miles ahead of the old site and that really helps sell the film.

Fur - Official Site
No content so far.

Ghost Rider - Official Site
It's another character Blog, this time on Blackheart. While I enjoy these looks into the characters, I fear they might be needed to understand the movie. I.E. this information won't be given in the movie, at least not in such a clear and concise way.

A Good Year - Official Site
Just the synopsis, image gallery and the trailer so far.

The Guardian - Official Site
Just the synopsis and trailer so far. The trailer looks like the film has some impressive visual effects, but I'm not so sure the human element will be all that great.

Hollywoodland - Official Site
The flash site launched this week and it has all the usual features, but under unusual names. For instance, Suspects has the cast bios while evidence has the image gallery, trailer and clips. There is also a section called Mystery that is marked coming soon. Add in some sound and animation and it is a good site, but not an award worthy site. Perhaps when there's more content added that will change.

How to Eat Fried Worms - Official Site
Every time I go to this site it hangs on my. Can't review what I can't see.

I Trust You to Kill Me - Official Site
All the usual features are here, with the trailer marked coming soon. I wish the background music played throughout the site and not just on the intro page.

Idlewild - Official Site
The cast & crew bios were added, as were the clips.

Invincible - Official Site
The final game was added just in time for the opening. And after playing all three games, it looks like I'm playing D. Overall the site has everything one would expect from a movie site, (synopsis, production notes, cast & crew bios, image gallery and trailer), as well as some extras. The extras come in two types, the video clips including five from the movie and a behind-the-scenes featurette, and three games. The games are broken down into Offense, Defense, and Special Teams and you can even build your own sports card. In the end, I decided to forgive the Lui Passaglia slight and award the site the unyielding Weekly Website Award.

Jet Li's Fearless - Official Site
All the usual features are here, including synopsis, production notes, cast & crew bios, image gallery and 2 trailers. There are also some extras, but they are all marked coming soon.

The Last Kiss - Official Site
Two more blog entries featuring Eric Christian Olsen .

Little Children - Official Site
Just the synopsis, image gallery, and trailer so far.

Old Joy - Official Site
The site did not play well with my browser. I don't know why, it's a very simple site.

Open Season - Official Site
Several more games were added this week, but they seemed more concerned with advertising the film's partners than they were advertising the film itself.

Queens - Official Site
Just the basics without enough to really sell the film.

The Quiet - Official Site
The site has the basics with just enough style to not seem boring, but not enough to stand out.

Ratatouille - Official Site
The trailer is over on Apple.com, which is good because the link on the official site has been broken for weeks now.

Red Doors - Official Site
The site has all of the usual features, but not a very polished feel. On the other hand, the trailer was a lot more entertaining than I was expecting and I look forward to seeing more about this film. Although odds are I won't see it until the home market.

Saw III - Official Site
Nothing new this week, but I got word that the entire first scene of the movie was going to be shown with Crank, however, since the movie is R-Rated, (that scene alone would be R-Rated), they are looking for a alternate venue. So look for an adults only website to spring up shortly with the scene.

School for Scoundrels - Official Site
Just the synopsis and trailer so far.

Spider-Man 3 - Official Site
The latest blog entry is about the trailer and how there's a new one coming out this fall, but the details are either unknown or a secret. Also in the blog is the trivia game.

Surviving Eden - Official Site
Just the basics, but at least they fixed the problem with the music.

This Film is Not Yet Rated - Official Site
The disallowed posters were added to the site, and it is pretty obvious why they are not being used.

Volver - Official Site
The full site launched, but it's just the basics so far. Also, I really don't like the trailer as it is so small I can't read the subtitles. I can barely tell they are there.
