It

It was the only film to earn more than $10,000 on the theater average chart this past weekend. It dominated the competition with an average of $30,076, which is the third best average for a wide release this year, behind Beauty and the Beast ($41,508) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ($33,704). The only limited release that came close to the $10,000 mark was Rebel in the Rye, which earned an average of $9,492 in four theaters.

There were a large number of other new limited releases, but almost none of them came close to the $10,000 mark. The Unknown Girl did well with an average of $6,739 in two theaters. Trophy and Memoir of a Murderer were neck and neck with averages of $3,522 in one theater and $3,458 in 8 respectively. Further down the list, we find a trio of films that were playing in just one theater: School Life with $2,332, The Challenge at $2,171, and Company Town earning $2,150. The only other film that didn’t miss the Mendoza Line was Twenty Two, with an average of $2,020 in 11 theaters.

There were a number of films that were not as lucky. Poster Boys only managed an average of $1,026 in 50 theaters. Paradise Club was even weaker with an average of $879 in two theaters. Napping Princess: The Story of the Unknown Me bombed with an average of $776 in 14 theaters. Finally, we get to 9/11, which earned an average of just $423 in 398 screens.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Hazlo Como Hombre reached $2 million over the weekend, but it might not get to $3 million.
  • Maudie made it all of the way to $6 million. It won’t get any further, but this is still great for a limited release.
  • Wind River got to $20 million before the weekend and nearly hit $25 million during the weekend. It overtook Gifted on the 2017 domestic chart.
