Thursday Night Previews: Maze Runner Chases Down $1.5 Million

Maze Runner: The Death Cure started its box office run with $1.5 million in previews. By comparison, the first film earned $1.1 million, while the second pulled in $1.7 million. If this film had the same legs as its immediate predecessor, then it will open with between $26 million and $27 million. I think its opening weekend will be a little bit lower, as the entire genre is off its peak, but this is still better than our prediction and enough to keep the studio happy.
Hostiles is expanding this weekend, earning $370,000 during its previews last night. It is really hard to judge this number, as there have been too few limited releases to expand in this way. We will have to wait till tomorrow to judge its weekend box office potential.
