Friday Estimates: Black Panther Adds $16.30 million

Black Panther matched predictions with $16.30 million on Friday. In fact, this is a little bit better than expected, so it should earn a little more than $60 million over the weekend. It now has a small shot of earning $500 million by the end of the weekend. It will likely have to wait to Monday to get there, on the other hand.
Red Sparrow opened in second place with $6.03 million, but its reviews are mixed and it only managed a B from CinemaScore, so it likely won’t have great legs. We predicted $18 million, but $16 million is more likely at this point.
Death Wish was even weaker with an opening day of $4.28 million. Its reviews are even worse, but it did earn a B plus from CinemaScore. Look for an opening weekend of $12 million, which is inline with our adjustedexpectations.
