March 6, 2018

Black Panther

Black Panther was again the top film on the theater average chart earning $16,236. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Death House with $10,295 in its lone theater.

There were few other new limited releases, but at least Foxtrot did well with an average of $7,907 in four theaters. Oh Lucy! was next with an average of $4,856 in three theaters. American Socialist: The Life and Times of Eugene Victor Debs and Souvenir both struggled in one theater each, earning $2,823 and $2,267 respectively.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • 2018 Oscar Shorts hit $3 million over the weekend, but since the Oscars are over, it likely won’t get to $4 million.
  • Phantom Thread got to $20 million, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Darkest Hour reached $55 million, but that’s also as far as it will go.
  • The Post surpassed $80 million making it the biggest limited release hit of 2017 and the 39th biggest overall.
