Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War became the second fastest film to opened in China earning $190.68 million over the weekend for a total opening of $200.02 million, including previews. This is the highest ever opening in terms of American currency. In local currency, The Fate of the Furious still holds the record at RMB1.352 billion to RMB1.266 billion. Overall, Infinity War earned $281.3 million in 55 markets for totals of $1.059 billion internationally and $1.607 billion worldwide. It became the first film in the MCU to reach $1 billion internationally and it is already the highest grossing film in the franchise worldwide. It is in fifth place on the all-time international chart and will be in third place by this time next week. Meanwhile, it is also in fifth place on the worldwide chart and is aiming for third place there as well, although it will take a little while longer to get there.

Overboard jumped into second place with $8.4 million in 12 markets for an early international total of $11.32 million. Almost all of this came from the film’s first place debut in Mexico, where it earned $8.40 million over the weekend for a total opening of $11.31 million.

Truth or Dare entered the top five in third place with $7.5 million in 54 markets for totals of $30.8 million internationally and $70.5 million worldwide. The film’s biggest opening came from Germany, where it earned third place with $1.44 million in 387 theaters. It also earned third place in Spain with $927,000 in 248 theaters. The film has yet to open in South Korea and Italy, but it likely has broken even already, given its $3.5 million production budget. Unless it cost ten times that to advertise, it is already a financial success.

Rampage slipped a spot to fourth with $7.3 million on 4,933 screens in 64 markets for totals of $308.4 million internationally and $398.2 million worldwide. The film opened in second place in Germany with $1.6 million on 764 screens. Up next is Japan this Friday.

Sherlock Gnomes entered the top five for the first time with $5.6 million in 23 markets for a total of $28.8 million internationally. The film opened in second place in the U.K. with $2.17 million over the weekend for a total opening of $3.39 million, including previews.
