Theater Averages: Animals are All-American Limited Release

June 5, 2018

American Animals

American Animals easily topped the theater average chart earning an average of $33,698 in four theaters. The only other film in the $10,000 club was 2001: A Space Odyssey, which earned an average of $14,042 in five theaters during its third weekend of release.

The were not many other new limited releases, but like last weekend, none of them bombed. A Kid Like Jake did well with $8,936 in its lone theater. One Sings, The Other Doesn’t earned $6,700 in one theater during its first-weekend of re-release. Breath was the last limited release we got numbers for and it earned $5,258, again in one theater.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • First Reformed hit its first milestone and while I don’t think it will expand too much beyond where it is now, it should still have no trouble getting to $2 million.
  • Disobedience made it to $3 million early on Sunday, but getting to $4 million might be out of reach.
  • RBG hit $7.5 million over the weekend and I am confident that it will get to $10 million before too long. That will likely be the film’s final milestone, but that is still amazing for a documentary.
