Theater Averages: New Releases are Left in the Cold

There were no films in the $10,000 club with Cold War coming the closest with $9,751 in ten theaters. The best new release was Touch Me Not, which opened with $7,903 in one theater.

The next best new limited release was Uri: The Surgical Strike, which did very well with an average of $6,249 in 101 theaters. Perfect Strangers was also playing in over 100 theaters earning an average of $3,202. Finally, there’s The Aspern Papers, which bombed with an average of $928 in 10 theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • At Eternity’s Gate managed to reach $2 million before the weekend, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Ben is Back topped $3 million over the weekend and should be able to reach $4 million before too long.
  • On the Basis of Sex expanded nearly truly wide and that allowed it to get to $10 million during the weekend.
  • If Beale Street Could Talk managed to get to $5 million before the weekend and $7.5 million during the weekend.
  • Mary Queen of Scots did reach $15 million, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • The Favourite managed to top $20 million over the weekend and $25 million isn’t out of the question.
