Synopsis

Creating a unique mix of punk, emo and trap, Lil Peep was set to bring a new musical genre to the mainstream when he died of a drug overdose at just 21 years old. From the streets of Long Beach and Los Angeles to studios in London and sold out tours in Russia, the artist born Gustav Ahr touched countless lives through his words, his sound and his very being. During a sweeping journey from the depths of the underground to a meteoric rise through the music industry, Gus wrestled with what it meant to be Lil Peep and in turn, what Lil Peep meant to so many.

Theater Averages: Making Waves

November 20th, 2019

Waves

Waves led the way on the theater average chart with an opening weekend average of $33,583 in four theaters. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was in second place with an average of $16,899 in ten theaters. Its road show has been a success so far, but the film did cost $10 million to make, so it will need to continue to have strong weekend numbers for a long time to break even. Recorder: The Marion Stokes Project opened with $12,140 in its lone theater. Honey Boy fell from an average of $75,266 in four theaters to an average of just $11,957 in 17. That’s still a good average, but its odds of expanding even semi-wide have been lowered dramatically. More...

Limited and VOD Releases: Getting Lost in the Crowd

November 15th, 2019

I Lost My Body

It is not a terribly busy week for limited releases, not unless you are talking about documentaries. There are a few that have a real shot at opening well, including The Report and Waves, but it’s I Lost My Body that I’m the most interested in. More...
